Description
BEDFIELD LONG GREEN TM 26 NW 2/30 Nos. 1 & 2, Daisy Cottage - - II
Former farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. Late C16/early C17. Timber framed; the front and left gable end are pebbledash-rendered, the remainder plastered. Roof of old plaintiles. 3-cell form. 2 storeys and attic. Intact late C19 facade. 3 windows, 4-paned sashes. 2 matching doorways, each with 4-panel door and a gabled hood on curved brackets, with pierced scalloped bargeboards and spike finial. Internal stack with plain oblong shaft, the lower portion original. Small gable stack to right. Lean-to additions on each gable end. Interior. No. 1, comprising the hall and service end of the original farmhouse, has mid C20 internal modernisation exposing most of the timbers. Plain studding with slightly cranked reverse-curved braces. Diamond-mullioned windows opened out in rear wall of service cell. Hall chamber has applied plank cornice above wallplate. Roof has clasped purlins and a lower row of triangular purlins; most of the wind bracing is missing. No.2, comprising the parlour end of the farmhouse, is less heavily modernised internally. Parlour chamber has applied cornice. No.2 contains the original newel stair, in 2 flights.
