WETHERINGSETT-CUM-BROCKFORD PARK GREEN TM 16 SW 5/131 Bloomfields Farmhouse -

-- II Former farmhouse. Early-mid C16. Timber framed and rendered. Thatched roof, hipped over service end to right. 3-cell, cross-entry type. 2 storeys with small attic over hall. Overhanging gable to left: exposed tie beam, wallplate ends on original brackets. Mid C20 casement windows of 2 and 3 lights, each light with a single horizontal glazing bar. One mid C20 hooded dormer with 4- light window. Lobby entry has lean-to porch with 4-panel door in one side. Internal stack with small rebuilt shaft. Interior. Much good exposed framing with evidence for diamond-mullioned windows. Tension braces in lower end wall of hall chamber. Parlour cell has fine close studding. 4-centre arched cross-entry doorways and traces of similar doorways in service partition. Very heavy plain joists in hall. Parlour ceiling has chamfered joists with run-out stops. Later upper ceilings, all joists set flat. Oak newel stair. Coupled-rafter roof over hall, the remainder of the roof concealed.
