Description
This barn, located immediately southwest of Elm Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and was likely built in more than one phase. It features a timber frame that is rendered, with a roof covered in corrugated metal sheeting. The barn has cart doors on the eastern side and two lean-to additions, one on each side.
Inside, the barn has a five-bay frame with a cart entry located in the fourth bay from the north. The studding is well-preserved, featuring a mid rail, and the southernmost bay has straight plank braces against the outside of the studs. The second bay from the north was originally floored and retains the remains of an upper diamond-mullioned window. The three bays to the north have an unaltered roof with clasped and butt purlins, while the remainder of the roof has been significantly reconstructed. The barn is included for its group value.
