Description

The barns located about 20 meters south-southwest of Green Farm House date back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The earlier barn, which is approximately from 1600, features a timber frame with block infill that has been rendered. It has a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof and consists of five bays. The yard side includes a 19th-century midstrey, a 20th-century opening on the left end, and central double doors flanked by casement windows at the rear.

Attached to the right end of this barn is a second barn, which has the year 1758 carved on a post and has also been altered in the 20th century. This barn's timber frame has largely been replaced by whitewashed Fletton brick and has a similarly steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof, consisting of eight narrow bays. The right end features a lean-to outshut, and the rear includes double doors and casement windows.

Inside the early barn, there is close studding with mid-rails, reverse curved arched braces halved outside the studs in the end walls, and arched braces to the cambered tie beams. It has a double butt purlin roof with reverse curved and arched windbraces. The 18th-century barn is partially storeyed and features arched braces to the tie beams, along with a double butt purlin roof.
