Description

Lime Tree Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th century, with extensions from the 18th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick base and is plastered on the exterior. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with pantiles. The layout follows a three-cell lobby entry plan, with an additional bay added to the service end. The house has two storeys and an attic.

The original front facing the garden includes a 20th-century gabled porch positioned to the right of the center, along with one and two-light 20th-century glazing bar casements. The eaves are boxed, and there is an axial ridge stack located to the right of the center, between the hall and the parlour. The gable ends feature casement windows in the attic, showcasing exposed cambered collars that clasp the purlins, which are supported by halved principals. An added one-storey bay on the left side displays exposed plates and purlins in the gable end. At the rear, there is a 20th-century gabled porch leading to the service bay.

Inside, the farmhouse has stop-chamfered axial binding beams and joists, along with four-light diamond mullioned window openings. The parlour contains an 18th-century cupboard with fluted pilasters and a key-blocked depressed arch. There is an original newel staircase located in front of the stack, and an S-shaped chamfered tie beam provides headroom into the hall chamber. The roof features arched windbraces in a clasped purlin construction.
