Description
Burts Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in three main stages. The main range, dating from the mid-16th century, consists of about five bays and is two storeys high. To the left is a lower service range, which is likely of earlier origin, while to the right is a late 16th or early 17th century block that obscures part of the main elevation. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a plaintiled roof, while the service range features a pantiled roof. There are two axial chimneys made of 17th century red brick, both of which have 20th century repairs. The farmhouse includes several 18th century cross-casements with 20th century leaded glazing, as well as 19th and 20th century small-pane casements. The entrance door is a 20th century plank door. The main range features a long-wall jetty on the first floor, partly showing exposed close-studding, a moulded bressumer, and a blocked chamber window with moulded mullions. The interior has not been examined, but it is believed to contain good moulded first-floor members and a 4-centred arched internal doorway with an old door.
