Description
Two houses, originally built as a single dwelling, were constructed in two phases during the 16th century. The building is two storeys high and follows a three-cell cross-entry plan. It has a timber frame with plaster infill and a cedar shingled roof, which was formerly thatched. A central chimney has a shaft rebuilt in red brick in the mid-20th century. Small-pane casement windows, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, are present. Each house has a mid-20th century half-glazed entrance door, with the door on the right likely marking the original cross-entry position.
Inside, the parlour block on the left was added in the late 16th century to an earlier building which originally had a lower roofline; this roofline was raised in the 20th century. The framing is simple in both building phases, but the parlour block includes leaf-carved chamfer stops to a main beam. At the rear is a contemporary outshut designed to contain a staircase with four doorways, each featuring a 4-centred arched head. Three of these doorways have leaf-carved spandrels, and two have a carved cross above the head.
