Description
The Old Almshouses is a house, formerly used as almshouses, built in the late 16th century or early 17th century, likely originally as a single dwelling. It has two storeys and a three-cell plan, with an additional set-forward range on the left side. The structure is timber-framed and roughcast, topped with thatched roofs. It features an axial chimney made of early 17th century red brick and a large external chimney at the front gable, which was originally internal and has been plastered. The range once extended further forward. The windows are mid-20th century steel small-pane casements. There is a boarded entrance door and a large mid-20th century thatched-roofed porch supported by oak posts, featuring an arched doorway that has been reused from an old building.
