Description

Home Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with an earlier core from the early 17th century or possibly earlier, and alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which partially encases timber-framing, and features a band at the first floor. It has a hipped plaintiled roof and an axial chimney made of early 17th century red brick with panelled shafts, along with a 19th century external chimney on the right side. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows; several 17th century window openings have been blocked with red brick from the 18th or 19th century. It showcases late 17th century heavy cross-casements with flat arches made of gauged brick and leaded glazing, a type of window that is uncommon in rural Suffolk. The entrance features an 18th century six-panelled door with a broad architrave, and there is a 19th century plaintiled porch supported by posts. The left-hand section of the building, which is one window wide, is made of 19th century red brick, likely encasing timber-framing. The interior has not been examined.
