Description
No. 6 Lambseth Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from around 1600 and was changed to a shop in the mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed and was cased with red brick around 1830. It features a machine tile roof at the front and pantiles at the rear. The house is two storeys high with a two-window range. There is a central door flanked by a three-light late 19th-century casement window on either side, and there are two similar casements on the first floor. All openings have painted surrounds and segmental arches. The roof is gabled, and there is an internal gable-end stack on the south side. The rear wing is plastered and painted, and the interior reveals a close-studded timber frame with chamfered bridging beams. The roof of the rear wing has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
