Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a house that was originally built in the early 18th century and later converted into two dwellings. It was extended in the 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame that is plastered, with some red brick and a clay lump addition. The roof is thatched, with pantiles on the addition.

The cottage consists of two cells, one storey and an attic, with a two-storey addition on the left side. It has an offset plinth and two entrances near the center: one is a four fielded panelled door and the other is a 20th-century half-glazed door. The windows are 20th-century three-light glazing bar casements with hoodboards, and there are two eyebrow thatched dormers with two lights. The right end of the building is entirely red brick and features an internal stack, while the left end has an external stack in the 19th-century bay that is slightly set back. This side has three-light casements, higher eaves, and a lower ridge, along with an internal white brick stack at the left end. At the rear, there is another eyebrow thatched dormer and a 20th-century addition.

Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered cross axial binding beams and storey posts, with exposed framing made of thin scantling and curved tension braces.
