Description

The Hollies is a house dating from the mid-18th century, located on Norwich Road, Claydon. It is a two-storey building with attics, originally featuring three windows. The house has a timber frame and plaster rendering, with a plaintiled roof and a short hipped wing on the right side. An internal chimney is constructed of red brick. Dormers with segmental leaded roofs were added in the early 19th century. The ground floor originally contained small-pane sash windows, while the upper floor windows have larger panes. A 18th-century six-panel entrance door is present, with fielded lower panels and a glazed upper pair, topped by an elliptical fanlight with thick radiating bars. Some original 18th-century joinery remains inside. A simple and altered 18th-century staircase features an open string and fretted brackets beneath each tread.
