Description
Onehouse Lodge is a house from the early 18th century, possibly with an earlier core. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring original plaster on the east wall with large rusticated panels and beaded borders. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, and there are three 19th-century gabled casement dormers. An internal chimney made of red brick dates back to the 18th century. The building has two storeys and five windows, which include original mullioned and transomed casements with unusual shouldered segmental heads. The lights above the transoms all retain leaded glazing. The entrance door has eight panels, with the head also shaped in a shouldered segmental form. Notable architectural details include a well-crafted dentiled segmental pediment, cornice, and pilasters. The house is believed to have an oak staircase with fluted balusters (three per tread) and carved console stair ends, along with some fine panelling. To the left is a contemporary rear wing, and behind that is a single-storey bakehouse featuring an external end chimney made of narrow red bricks. The interior has not been examined.
