Description
The garden wall and garden house, located approximately 45 meters northeast of Chandos Lodge, date from the early 19th century. The garden house is constructed of flint with ashlar dressings and incorporates re-used ecclesiastical materials. It features a pantile roof and is a single storey. The structure represents an extension of the garden wall, with a lean-to roof on the east side. To the left, there is a wide stilted arch on ashlar jambs. The roofed portion includes a re-used holy water stoup from around 1240, set on a column. To the right, two early 14th-century cinquefoiled windows provide light to the interior. The north return has a plank and muntin door. The garden wall itself is made of red brick laid in Flemish bond, with piers at intervals and rounded coping bricks.
