Description

Green Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse with a 17th-century one-cell addition on the left. It features a timber frame with plaster and a roof covered in concrete pantiles. The building has two storeys and four windows, which include 19th-century three-light small-paned casements. There is a blocked window on the upper left and a mid-20th-century replacement window on the lower right. The entrance has a lobby with a six-panel door, where the upper two panels are glazed, and it is framed by an architrave with sunk pilasters and a pedimented cornice. A mid-20th-century gabled brick porch has been added. The original internal stack has a mid-20th-century axial shaft, while a later internal stack on the left has a square shaft. There is also a rear lean-to addition from the 18th or 19th century, which has a cellar beneath a raised floor. Inside, the farmhouse has seen little alteration since the 19th century, although much of the structure is concealed. Part of the hall ceiling displays plain joists set flat, and above the hall chamber, there is a straight arched-braced tie beam. A 19th-century newel stair is located in the lower bay of the hall. The room at the left end was used as a dairy and has plain ceiling joists and an old brick floor. The roof has not been examined.
