Description

The Beeches Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse with an 18th-century wing added to the rear. It is primarily timber-framed, with a 19th-century red brick facade accented by white brick for quoins and window and door surrounds. The gable ends are plastered and brick-cased to the rear, which also includes the later wing. The roof is covered in glazed black pantiles.

The farmhouse originally had a three-cell plan with a cross-passage entry, and now has two storeys and an attic. It has four windows, which are 19th-century casements with a single horizontal glazing bar in each light, set within segmental arches. A 19th-century six-panelled door is set within a gabled timber porch. An internal stack is present.

Inside, exposed timber framing is visible, predominantly on the first floor. The rear wall features an original arched doorway and a blocked window with a cavetto mullion on the ground floor, alongside two diamond-mullioned windows on the first floor. A single visible storey post in the hall has a shaped head. Service rooms have been enlarged, and the original partition wall has been removed. A newel staircase is present, with the attic flight being original.
