Description

Goulder's Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse located in Wingfield. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure topped with a plaintiled roof, spanning two storeys and an attic. The main range consists of two cells, with a lower cross-wing to the right that originally extended further to the rear. The building has casement windows, primarily from the 18th century, including three-light mullion and transom windows on the ground floor that lack glazing bars. The entrance is through a plank door, and there are two gabled dormers.

At the junction of the main range and the cross-wing, there is an axial stack with three truncated shafts arranged in a sawtooth pattern, and a square inset panel at the base. To the left, a smaller 19th-century stack is positioned forward of the roof ridge. The left gable end features a jettied first floor and an overhanging gable, with the bressummer and tie beam intricately carved with geometric patterns and supported by carved brackets. Below the jetty, the exposed studs reveal an original eight-light mullioned window.

The interior has been modernised but retains some exposed structural elements, along with original mullioned windows or traces of them. A mid-20th-century stair is located in a rear addition, and a reused beam with red ochre colouring can be found in the roof of the cross-wing.
