Description
WINGFIELD THE STREET TM 27 NW 5/160 Goulder's Farmhouse - -- II
Farmhouse. C16. Timber framed and plastered with a plaintiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. A 2-cell main range with a lower cross-wing to the right which once extended further to the rear. Casement windows, mainly of C18 date; 3-light mullion and transom windows without glazing bars to the ground floor. Plank entrance door. 2 gabled dormers. At its junction with the cross-wing the main range has an axial stack with 3 truncated shafts grouped in sawtooth fashion; in the base is a square inset panel. To the left a small C19 stack set forward of the roof ridge. The left gable end has a jettied first floor and overhanging gable: the bressummer and tie beam are carved with repeated geometric patterns and are supported on carved brackets. Below the jetty the studs are exposed and there is an original 8-light mullioned window. Modernised interior with some of the structure exposed; some original mullioned windows or evidence for them. Mid C20 stair in rear addition. In the roof of the cross-wing a re-used beam with red ochre colouring.
