Description

WOOLPIT THE STREET (NORTH EAST TL 9762 SIDE) 5/177 Street Farmhouse - 15.11.54 II GV Farmhouse, early or mid C17 with early C19 alterations. Red brick, the C17 walling in irregular English bond; a moulded band at 1st floor. The front elevation is painted. C17 walling has parapet gables with kneelers and moulded brick copings. Plaintiled roofs: C19 coved plaster eaves cornice. Two gabled casement dormers of C19. At the gable apex at each end is a pair of C17 octagonal chimneys of red brick, and at the gable of the rear range is a similar cluster of 3. Two storeys and attics. Double-pile plan, 3 windows (the 3rd bay was added to right in C19). Early C19 small-pane sashes with side-lights, those at ground storey with segmental heads. The left-hand bay has an C18 casement above and a late C20 replacement below. Early C19 6- panelled entrance door with fluted Roman Doric pilasters, panelled linings and triangular pediment.
