Description
The Cottage is a house with a core dating from the 15th century, featuring early or mid-16th century and mid-19th century alterations. It is timber-framed and has been encased at the front in painted 19th century brick. The roof is pantiled and includes a central 19th century chimney made of red brick. The building has two storeys and two windows. On the first storey, there are two 19th century casement windows with leaded lights. The ground storey has a small-pane sash window with a flush frame and a segmental head. The entrance doorway, which is from the 19th century, features a six-panelled door dating to around 1980. The Cottage was originally built as an open hall and is connected to the adjacent crosswing, which is now a separate dwelling known as Tyrells. Inside, there are good early 16th century moulded ceiling beams and joists.
