Description

Brook Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. The house comprises three main sections. It is single-storey with an attic. The front door is positioned slightly left of centre. There are 19th and 20th century windows with 1, 2, and 3 lights, with glazing bars. One window to the right of the entrance has a single central light. Two dormers with raking tiled heads are visible from the front. An axial ridge stack is located to the left of centre, and a 19th century external stack is on the right gable end. An attic window with two lights is in the left gable end, showing exposed plates and purlins. The rear of the house has a door and windows similar to those at the front, and the right bay projects slightly beyond the others. Inside, there is an ogee stop-chamfered axial binding beam, altered framing, reverse curved and tension bracing, and the first floor frame is hidden.
