Description

The Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, with later alterations in the 20th century. It is a timber-frame building, with plaster rendering and a thatched roof. The house originally comprised two rooms. It has a single storey and an attic. A central boarded door is flanked by two two-light sash windows with glazing bars. A two-light dormer window with eyebrow thatching is located to the left. An internal stack is situated at the left end, and a right-end stack was truncated in the 20th century. There are attic lights in the gable returns. A 20th-century lean-to outshut is present at the left end, and a flat-roofed addition extends to the rear. Inside, a cross passage is reflected by doorways, and full-height tension bracing is visible at the service end. An axial binding beam with ogee stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops is located on the left side. Collared clasp purlins are also present.
