Description

Willow Corner Cottage is a house dating from the early 16th century, with an inserted stack and floor and a parlour bay added in the early 17th century. It was raised and altered in the 20th century. The building has a timber frame that is plastered, and it features a shallow pitch pantiled roof. Originally, it was a small two-bay open hall with a storeyed service or solar end. A stack was inserted at the upper end, and a parlour was added to the right. The cottage is two storeys high, with the entrance located in a 20th-century gabled porch that occupies the original cross passage position. The windows are 20th-century glazing bar casements with hoodboards. A rebuilt axial ridge stack is situated between the hall and the parlour, and there is a 20th-century single-storey outbuilding on the left end.

Inside, there is a four-centred arched door head at the rear of the cross passage. The hall features studding without a midrail, an inserted stop-chamfered cross axial binding beam, and a stop-chamfered fireplace bressumer. The parlour has close studding and a stop-chamfered cross axial binding beam. On the first floor over the hall, there are cranked braces from jowled posts to cambered tie beams with a crown post mortice to the former open truss, arched braces in the walling, and window openings with four-light diamond mullions and two-light chamfered mullions. There is also reverse curved bracing over the parlour.
