Description
Southmore Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, which has been extended and altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a thatched roof. The building consists of three small cells and is two storeys high. The original entrance, which faces the green, is located to the right of the centre and includes a glazed door set in a gabled porch with a bargeboard and a slate roof. The windows are 2 and 3 light leaded casements from the 20th century. There is a ridge stack positioned to the left of the centre.
To the right, a lower whitewashed brick bay has been added for service use, featuring a half-glazed door and 3-light glazing bar casements, along with an asbestos tiled roof and an internal end stack. On the left side, there is a lean-to conservatory. At the rear, there is an entrance into the service end, which includes an open trellissed gabled porch. Extending from the rear left is a low addition with a pantiled roof, also from the 20th century.
Inside, much of the framing is concealed, but there are stop-chamfered cross axial binding beams, moulded jowled posts, and cambered tie beams.
