Description
This unoccupied house, located 170 meters south of St Margaret's Priory, dates from the mid or late 17th century. It features a three-cell lobby entrance plan and is one storey high with attics. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with some 18th and 19th century cable pattern pargetting. The roof, originally thatched, is now covered with asbestos-cement slates. There is an axial chimney that was rebuilt in 19th century red brick, along with a 19th century end chimney on the right side. The house has two mid-19th century sash windows with large panes and a six-panelled door at the lobby entrance, along with a boarded door to the right, both dating from around 1840. Inside, the house retains complete 17th century framing, including primary-braced close-studding and unchamfered floor joists that are laid flat and clamped to full-height studs. There is a lintelled open fireplace in the hall. At the time of the survey, the house was unoccupied and in poor condition.
