Description

This barn, located about 20 meters west of Mill Farm House, dates back to around 1600 and was reroofed in the 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick base, with weatherboarding and corrugated sheet cladding. The barn has a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof and consists of five bays, with central double doors. Inside, there is close studding with a mid-rail, crossed halved braces in the end walls, and tension inside with arched outside upper studs. The arched braces to the tie beams have been replaced by knees, and it has a double staggered tenoned purlin roof with collars to the principals. Attached to the front of the barn are low clay lump sheds, with a hipped pantiled roof on the left and a corrugated lean-to roof on the right. Mill Farmhouse itself is not listed.
