Description
Mill Cottage is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, dating from the mid to late 18th century and later cased in the 19th century. It is constructed of clay lump with a colourwashed red brick exterior and features a hipped thatched roof. The building consists of two cells on each side of a central stack and is two storeys high. The entrances were originally located at the centre of each cottage; the entrance on the left still has a 20th-century thatched gabled porch, while the entrance on the right has been blocked and replaced with a window. The windows are two-light glazing bar casements with segmental heads on the ground floor. There is a central axial ridge stack and a lean-to outshut addition at the rear left. Inside, the cottage features axial binding beams and collars to the side purlin roof. It is noted as an interesting example of clay lump construction.
