Description
No. 50 Old Market Street is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features a main range with a cross-wing on the left side. The building is timber framed and rendered, topped with a pantiled roof. It consists of two cells and is two storeys high, with an attic in the wing. The front has various casement windows, mostly old and small-paned, while the left return wall of the wing has 1980s casements without glazing bars. The central entrance is a four-panel door. There is an external stack on the right gable end made of narrow red brick, with the lower part enclosed by a narrow lean-to addition and the upper part rebuilt in the 19th century. Another stack is located against the inner side wall of the wing. At the rear of the wing, there is a mid-20th century one-storey addition made of buff brick. The interior has not been examined.
