Description
The Firs is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a band at the first floor level, while the left-hand section is plastered and the entire facade was painted in the mid-20th century. The building has a hipped roof covered with plain tiles, adorned with large modillions arranged in groups of three beneath the eaves. There are internal chimneys made of red brick. The house is two storeys high and has a recessed two-window centre block flanked by slightly set-forward cross-wings, each also with two windows. The mid-19th century sash windows have large panes and are set in original segmental-headed openings made of gauged brick. The entrance features a mid-20th century panelled door beneath a flat canopy that is supported by curved brackets. The interior and rear of the house have undergone significant remodelling in the 19th and mid-20th centuries.
