Description
The following building shall be added:-
HOO CHURCH LANE TM 25 NE 5/157 Barn about 80 metres north of Hoo Hall GV II
Note:This barn is depicted on the Boo Hall estate map dated 1837. Barn. Circa early C19. Weatherboarded timber frame with tall red brick flint panelled plinth. Clay pantile roof with gabled ends. Plan : 9 roof bays with midstrey on north side of bays 4 and 5. Large C20 lean-to shed on north side. Exterior : The south side has double doors to the left of centre to about 2/3 height, C20 inserted hatch either side and doorway at right hand end. Later C19 open-front cart-shed attached to front of left hand end. At the rear (north) the weatherboarded gabled midstrey to right of centre and large corrugated iron C20 lean-to shed to left of the midstrey. Interior : Some earlier reused material including wall-posts, tie-beams, wall and sole-plates and possibly some of the studding. Vertical studding between the wall-posts with long straight braces and no mid-rail. The sole-plate is on a tall brick and flint plinth. Curved knees and brackets under the tie-beams either side of the threshing floor. The 5 tie-beams do not correspond with the roof bays. Pegged soft-wood butt-purlin roof, the common rafters resting on the backs of the purlins with a ridge-board at the apex. The collars are mortice and tenoned to the principal rafters.
