Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres south-west of Hazeleigh Hall, dates from the early 19th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated iron. The structure consists of eight bays arranged east-west, featuring two midstreys on the north side. There is a 20th-century lean-to open shed on the south side. The barn has a one-metre-high plinth made of red brick in English bond. It exhibits primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the wallplates, and bolted knees connecting to the straight tiebeams. The roof is constructed with joggled butt-purlins, although the two eastern bays have been modified to a clasped purlin design. One set of large doors has been boarded over, and there is a later pigeon loft in the gable. Additionally, there are two pairs of original doors on the south side.
