Description
Bacons is a cottage dating from around 1725. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a red plain tiled roof that has an outshot at the rear. The cottage features a central red brick chimney stack and stands two storeys high. There is a range of two windows, each with three lights and center transoms. A 20th-century glazed door with a pentice board is located on the left return. Inside, you can find original vertically boarded doors with catches and hinges, as well as original staircases. For a full description of the cottage, refer to Volume 3 of Post Medieval Archaeology by C.A. Hewett, which discusses East Anglian prototypes for early timber houses in America.
