Description
The Old Rectory is a house that has been converted into several dwellings. The front part of the building dates from the early 19th century, while the rear section is from the 17th or 18th century, with later additions. The front range is constructed of gault brick and features a hipped grey slate roof, with chimney stacks made of gault brick on both sides. It has a moulded eaves cornice and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a gault and grey slate extension on the right side. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed dormer. The front has three vertically sliding sash windows with segmental heads and glazed margins, and segmental arches above them. The entrance features a two-light, two-panelled door with a semi-circular light above, set in a recessed porch that has a semi-circular arch and moulded capitals.
The rear wing is timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with a red plain tiled gambrel roof, and has dormers at the back along with an external chimney stack. Inside this range, there are stone flag floors and stop-chamfered bridging joists. The front range includes a stick staircase with a wreathed handrail.
