Description
Old Little Smiths is a cottage with origins dating from the 15th or 16th century, featuring alterations and additions from the 18th century and later. The building is timber framed and panel plastered, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The left side has a gambrel roof with two gabled dormers, while the right side has an attached red brick chimney stack. The left range is one storey with attics, and the right range is two storeys. The windows consist of two sets of two on the first floor and three on the ground floor, all of which are small paned casements from the 20th century. There is also a 20th-century rear extension. Inside the left range, notable features include heavy timber wall studs, a top plate, and a ground cill, along with a heavy stop-chamfered bridging joist. The original chimney stack has been encased with 20th-century brick.
