Description
Park Cottages, formerly a farmhouse, now consists of two dwellings. It dates from the late 16th century, with the main range extended to the south in the 19th century, and a 17th-century addition set forward at this end. The building is timber framed and plastered, with the plasterwork designed to imitate ashlar. It has a roof covered with modern concrete pantiles and stands two storeys high with an attic, except for the 17th-century extension, which is single storey with an attic. Originally, the layout was a three-cell plan.
The cottages feature various casement windows, with the main range showcasing 18th-century two-light mullion and transom windows on the ground floor. There are two doorways: a two-panel door from the 17th or 18th century on the left side and a six-panel raised and fielded door on the right side. Inside, there are two internal stacks, closely-spaced joists, and an original attic fireplace. At the rear, there is an original four-centre arched doorway with carved spandrels, which is now blocked.
