Description

Levington War Memorial is a war memorial built in 1920 by E E Saunders of Ipswich. It is made of Clipsham stone and features a Latin cross on a tapering chamfered shaft, which stands above a three-stepped square plinth. The plinth is inscribed with the words: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF OUR MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 (NAMES) LEST WE FORGET." This plinth is set within a stepped base that includes an inserted stone plaque at the center of the top step, inscribed with "1939-1945 (NAMES)."
