Description
The Rishangles War Memorial is a war memorial erected in 1920 by E E Saunders of Ipswich, following the First World War. An additional inscription was added after the Second World War.
Carved from limestone, the memorial is located just inside the entrance to the churchyard of the former Church of St Margaret, now known as Rishangles Old Church, facing the churchyard gate. It stands 1.8 meters high and features a moulded plinth and a moulded capping stone, resting on a rectangular stone base. The front face of the memorial is inscribed with the words "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE BRAVE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914–1918" followed by three names, and "1939–1945" followed by two names.
