Description
The service range located immediately north of Street Farmhouse is a disused structure dating from the first half of the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 18th century. It is timber framed and features much-decayed plasterwork on three sides. The western side, which faces the road, has an early 18th-century parapet gable end made of red brick with dark headers. This gable includes tumbling and has an integral stack with an original plain shaft. The roof is clad in corrugated iron and the building is 1½ storeys high, arranged in a two-cell form set at right angles to the farmhouse. It has small casement windows and opposed doorways with boarded doors. There are remains of a gabled addition against the brick gable end. The frame is substantially intact, with straight wall bracing. The rear cell features plain joists set flat, while the joists in the front cell vary in quality, with some set on edge. The roof has clasp purlins and includes some re-used sooted rafters. It is likely that the range originally extended further to the west before the brick gable end was constructed.
