Description
This building is a barn located 10 meters west of The Elms, dating from the early 17th century, with a later addition from the 18th century to the north. The barn is primarily timber framed and weatherboarded, with a later addition constructed in red brick featuring a parapet gable end. The roof's west slope is thatched, while the east slope is covered with corrugated asbestos. The timber frame remains largely intact, although a modern intermediate floor has been added. The barn consists of four bays, with arched bracing in the side walls between most bays and at the corners; two of the three open trusses still have their arched bracing. The roof is well-preserved, featuring clasped and butt purlins along with arched wind-bracing in between. The later addition has stepped butt purlins. Attached to either end of the barn are 19th-century stables.
