Description

42 and 43 The Street are two cottages located on the north side of The Street in Brandeston. No. 43 dates from the early 16th century, while No. 42 is from the early 17th century. Both cottages are timber framed and plastered, featuring thatched roofs with plain tiled surrounds to the dormers. They are single storey with an attic and have a four-window range, with 18th and 19th century two-light casements. There are two doorways, each with a mid-20th century gabled porch and a boarded door. No. 42 includes two gabled dormers. Both cottages have two internal stacks, with the first floors and stacks being later additions.
