Description

Numbers 5-11 (odd) and 11A Blyburgate comprise a group of buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Number 5 is an early 18th-century building, rendered in stucco and painted. It is two storeys high with two windows, featuring floor bands, a low parapet, and a ground floor shop. The first floor has one sash window and one casement window.

Numbers 7 and 9 are early 17th-century buildings, also rendered in stucco and painted. Each has one window, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a wood eaves cornice and a steep roof with one gabled casement dormer. The first-floor sash windows are near-flush-frame and now have central glazing bars only, while the ground floors contain shops with wood cases.

Number 11 (including 11A) is an 18th-century building constructed of red brick and has a pantile roof. It is two storeys high with two windows, near-flush-frame sash windows with glazing bars, and a ground floor shop to the left with a wood case. 11A has a wide way through it with double doors and a segmental head.

Numbers 1 and 11 (odd) and No 11A form a group with Twyford House and Numbers 2 and 4 Exchange Square.
