Description

No 10 in St Keyne is a late 17th century and early 18th century building, with some early 19th century refacing and alterations on the east side. It is two storeys high with an attic and features one gabled dormer. The exterior is made of painted brick and covered with pantiles. The building has a brick, panelled chimney and three windows on the first floor, which are mullion transom casements set in flush frames. The ground floor includes two mullion transom casements and one modern four-light casement, all featuring stuccoed flat arches.

The front of No 10 faces St Keyne and consists of two storeys made of Suffolk yellow brick, with a plinth and a wide eaves soffit supported by coupled brackets, along with panels between each pair of brackets. The centre of the building projects forward and has five sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, with a segmental arch above the central window that has a key, all stucco faced. The entrance features a six-panel door with an arched fanlight in an umbrella pattern, panelled linings, and a reeded architrave with roundels. Inside, there is a fine original oak staircase from the earlier period, complete with heavy turned balusters.

In the garden, there is a small three-arch loggia with a brick pediment from the early 19th century. Although No 10 has been significantly interconnected with the adjacent houses for many years, it was recently let separately. Nos 1 to 10 in St Keyne, along with The Social Club, form a group of buildings.
