Description
The Market Place Wine Shop, located at No 19 on the north side of Market Place, is a building dating from the 16th century. It features close-set timber framing visible on the interior of the ground floor to the north, although much of the ground floor has been altered. The building is two storeys high and has four blank panels along with two flush frame sash windows on the first floor, which currently lack glazing bars. The exterior is plastered. On the ground floor, there are two similar sash windows, one blank panel, and two wooden doorcases, which now have four-panel doors. The ground floor serves as a wine shop. The roof is pantiled with a low pitch, and the gable has an ornamental bargeboard. The east side includes a radial bar half moon window on the first floor and small casements on either side. The central entrance features a wooden case with carved consoles, with a sash window on each side. The Market Place Wine Shop, along with Nos 25 and 29, forms a group.
