Description

Hill House, located on the west side of Wickham Market High Street, is a house dating from around the 18th century, with an early 19th-century front. It is constructed of gault brick and features a slated hipped roof. The building has two storeys and a three-window range. Two of the windows are sashes set in recessed frames with glazing bars, while the central window is a full-height double casement that opens onto a wrought iron balcony, flanked by lunettes. The flat gauged brick arches above the windows enhance its architectural detail.

On the ground floor, the windows are full-height sashes with semi-circular heads, featuring both straight and radial glazing bars, and are complemented by semi-circular fluted pilasters. The entrance includes a six-panel raised and fielded door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars, all set within a gauged brick arch. The house is adorned with two stone string courses and modillions beneath the wide overhanging eaves. There are also two brick stacks on the roof. Surrounding the house is a mainly gault brick wall that incorporates projecting brick piers topped with stone copings and features wrought iron entrance gates.
