Description

No. 42 High Street is a house dating from the 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building is designed in an L shape and features a jettied gable at the north end. It has two storeys with a mix of window styles, primarily modern casements. The gable includes one recessed sash window on the first floor and a canted bay under the jetty, which is accompanied by a sash window in a recessed frame with glazing bars. A moulded bressumer adds to the architectural detail. There are two brick stacks, one located on the ridge of the cross wing and the other on the north elevation, both featuring heavily moulded brick decoration.
