Description
No. 71 High Street is an inn that has been converted into shops and residential space. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and significant restoration in the 20th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plain tiled roof that features a parapeted gable facing the street and a flat-roofed extension to the north. It has two storeys. The gable includes a first-floor window, which is a sash in a recessed frame with glazing bars, a blocked window at the apex, and a sash display window on the ground floor, along with two similar windows in the extension. There is a boarded entrance door and a blocked window to the right of the display window. The south elevation, which faces the Church access road, has a mix of windows, including sashes in recessed frames with glazing bars. The rear section of the building is jettied, while the north elevation features a gabled wing and modern casement windows. There are two red brick chimney stacks.
