Description
No. 38, known as Marlow, is a house dating from the 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring an underbuilt jetty in color-washed brick and a plain tiled roof. It has a lobby entrance and stands two storeys high with an attic. The gable end facing the High Street has a central three-light sash window in a flush frame on the first floor. The ground floor has two sash windows in flush frames, each with a central glazing bar and two fixed lights on the splay at the corners. The south and north sides have scattered fenestration, including some casements and sashes in recessed frames with glazing bars, along with 20th-century rooflights. The entrance doorway features a portico in antis with an architrave and a bracketed hood, leading to a 20th-century panelled door. There is an axial red brick stack with a moulded cap.
