Description
No. 44 High Street is a house dating from the 18th century. It features a brick stucco front that conceals an earlier core and rear that are timber framed and plastered, dating from the 17th century. The front roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, while the earlier range has plain tiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range of sashes that include glazing bars. Two of the windows have narrow sash sidelights, and the extreme left and right windows are fitted with louvred shutters. There are three dormers, also with sashes and glazing bars. The entrance doorway is off centre and features a moulded architrave with a moulded hood, a six raised and fielded panelled door, narrow glazed sidelights, and a rectangular glazed fanlight. A plain plat band and a dentil course to the moulded eaves fascia add decorative detail. To the right of the house is a modern flat-roofed garage extension.
