Description

This building is a disused malting located 50 meters southwest of Elms Farmhouse. It dates from the early 18th century and features a kiln with two early 19th-century ranges attached to the east and north. The structure is made of red brick, with the east range roofed in corrugated iron sheeting and the north range covered in pantiles. The square kiln has a tall tapering roof clad in tarred sheet metal and a brick sawtooth eaves cornice. The floor is made of intact perforated clay tiles. The attached ranges include various segmental-arched openings, mostly slatted, and have brick dentil eaves cornices. Notably, the intermediate floor of the east range has been removed.
