Description

The Royal Oak Inn, located at 8 King Street, dates back to 1692 and is likely from the 17th century, although it has undergone significant alterations. This two-storey building features a timber frame with plaster and a hipped tiled roof at one end. It has a two-window range with flush frame sash windows that include glazing bars. The ground floor has bays with glazing bars set in a wooden case topped with a cornice. The entrance is also framed in wood. To the left, there is a two-storey wing with a tiled roof that has two windows. The Royal Oak Inn is included for its group value with the adjacent properties, Nos 1 to 11 and the Bear Hotel.
