Description
The Bear Hotel, located on King Street, dates back to 1692 and is possibly originally from the 17th century, although it has been significantly altered and modernized. The building is two stories with an attic, featuring one square-headed dormer casement. It has a timber-framed and plastered structure, but there is now a considerable amount of brickwork. The steep roofs are tiled, and the gable at the first floor overhangs to the west. The ground floor is made of modern red brick on the left, while the upper storey is painted brick with a parapet. There are four windows on the first floor, including one two-light window, mainly flush frame sash with glazing bars. The Bear Hotel occupies an important position in the area. The hotel, along with Nos 1 to 11 (consecutive), forms a group.
